Talk about Hyundai wanting to put the hurt on the compact hot-hatch segment! It seems poetic in a sense that Hyundai would release this information during SEMA week as the Veloster N is one of the most anticipated sporty cars for the 2019 model year.
We all figured that Hyundai would undercut Volkswagen, Subaru and Honda and now, at $34,999, we know by how much. The closest in price of its three would-be competitors is the WRX STI at $40,095 followed by the Type R at $41,090 and finally the Golf R at $42,065. Other competitors include the $29,995 Subaru WRX and $29,599 Ford Mustang Fastback
The aforementioned cars, with the exception of the WRX, are all more powerful on paper and three feature AWD. Hyundai is not saying that its 275 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine Veloster N is aimed squarely at all of these but it smells that way. Other goodies that make up the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N are a limited-slip differential, active exhaust, fully adjustable suspension and 6-speed manual transmission.
