Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe models removed from Jeep’s U.S. website during unresolved safety recall.
Engine fire recall has halted sales and removed 4xe trims from configuration tools.
Stellantis projects a fix in Q2 2026, but no confirmed production restart timeline yet.
Jeep has removed the plug-in hybrid versions of its Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models from its U.S. consumer website due to a stop-sale tied to a recall that remains in effect, and no fix has yet been announced. On the Canadian website, potential buyers can still build the models; however, they are limited to the 2025 model year. According to a Jeep Canada spokesperson, the website is being updated to reflect the 2026 lineup, which has not yet been announced.
The 4xe versions of the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler no longer appear on the “Electric & Hybrid” section of Jeep.com. They remain listed under the “Electrified” banner on Jeep.ca.
Another Recall Hits Jeep’s 4xe Models, Sand Could Be Inside the Engine!
Build and pricing tools for the 2026 Wrangler 4xe are absent, while links to the 2025 4xe models redirect to gasoline-powered alternatives. The change effectively removes the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, which was exclusively offered with the 4xe powertrain, from both sites.
Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, issued a recall in November 2025 for both plug-in hybrid models after identifying a manufacturing defect that led to engine fires in customer vehicles. At the time, a stop-sale was enacted on all affected vehicles in dealer inventory. According to dealer communications, no remedy is expected until the second quarter of 2026.
In a statement provided to The Drive, a Jeep spokesperson said, “we can confirm for declared safety recalls as we currently have with certain Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler 4xe models, a stop sale is always enacted for any new vehicles on dealer lots as is standard practice. Once a remedy is in place with dealers, the stop-sale will lift immediately.”

It remains unclear whether the removal of both 4xe models from the website is temporary or an indication of longer-term production delays. Jeep has not confirmed any timeline for returning the models to sale or restoring the website functionality. It’s also unclear what Stellantis Canada’s plans are for both the 2026 Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.
The disappearance of these models also reduces Jeep’s current hybrid and electrified offerings. The all-electric Wagoneer S is still on the menu, however, also only for the 2025 model year. The new electric Recon is priced in the U.S., not yet in Canada, while the hybrid Cherokee is available to build on both sites.
