Power boosts cost extra, but offer big results
Try it for a month or buy for the life of the car
Not happy with your car’s performance? Mercedes-Benz is letting you buy more power for your electric sedan or SUV. The Acceleration Increase On-Demand adds up to 80 horses and slashes acceleration times.
At launch, The feature will be available on Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 and EQS 450 models. That’s both the sedan and SUV variants of both, if you’re not up on the Benz EQ naming conventions just yet.
On EQE 350 models the over the air update pushes the motors from 288 hp up to 348. It helps them hit 100 km/h a full second quicker and likely has big benefits on highway passing and similar maneuvers.
EQS 450 models see power climb by 80 hp to 435. That’s enough to get the sedan’s 0-100 km/h down to under five seconds. Benz says that the changes don’t decrease vehicle range, either, though that will largely depend on how much you choose to use the extra power.
For EQE owners, the power increase starts from $75 a month or $750 for a one-year subscription. A lifetime subscription to the system is $2,500, and that is for the life of the vehicle and not the length of your ownership.
Adding the acceleration boost to the EQS is a lot pricier. $115 per month or $1,150 yearly. The lifetime option here is $3,800.
This is just the latest Benz OTA add-on service. The Mercedes me connect Store also offers features like Beginner Driver modes, expanded navigation features, AMG Track Pace, and more.
