The Chery-backed brands are promoting electric SUVs for Canada, while their overseas lineup offers a few possible candidates.
- Omoda and Jaecoo now have an active Canadian website promoting upcoming electric SUVs.
- Their overseas electric models include the Omoda E5 and Jaecoo J5 EV.
- The Omoda 9 we previously drove is another model worth watching, although Canadian availability remains speculation.

Omoda and Jaecoo have taken another visible step toward entering Canada. Their Canadian website is now active in English and French, greeting visitors with the message “New Electric SUVs Coming to Canada.”
The site does not identify a Canadian model lineup or provide pricing and delivery dates. It also cautions that the vehicles shown are intended for other markets and that some may not be offered here. Canadian specifications and equipment could differ.
The brand’s Canadian recruitment page provides further evidence of preparations. It says the Chery-backed operation is developing its Canadian business and dealership network.

Which Models Could Come to Canada?
The website’s emphasis on electric SUVs makes the brand’s existing battery-electric models logical candidates to watch, although neither has been confirmed for Canada.
Omoda already offers the E5, the electric member of its Omoda 5 family, in overseas markets. Jaecoo also sells a compact electric SUV called the J5 EV in Australia and E5 in the United Kingdom. These vehicles would give the brand’s existing electric products to draw from for a Canadian launch. Their availability abroad, however, does not establish which versions would come here.

Could the Omoda 9 Follow?
The Omoda 9 is particularly interesting to us, having already had the opportunity to drive it. Its place in a potential Canadian lineup remains speculative, but it offers a look at what the brand sells beyond its smaller electric SUVs.
Offered overseas as the Omoda 9 SHS-P, the flagship SUV uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine with electric motors. That makes it a different proposition from the fully electric models that appear to fit the Canadian website’s initial message.
A Canadian Omoda 9 would depend on the company choosing to bring plug-in hybrids here. For now, the website does not confirm that direction or name the 9 as an upcoming model.

Canadian Details Still to Come
The active website and dealership preparations make the brand’s Canadian ambitions more tangible. Buyers still need the details that will determine their appeal: model selection, Canadian pricing, warranty coverage, service locations and delivery timing.
