- Hyundai calls the Prophecy Concept EV the “Ultimate Automotive Form”;
- Was inspired by the Hyundai’s “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy;
- Features two joysticks instead of a steering wheel.
Hyundai achieved the “Ultimate Automotive Form” with the Prophecy Concept EV they unveiled this morning. Unable to reveal it during the Geneva Motor Show since it was cancelled, the Korean manufacturer did it via video presentation.
Building from what they have introduced with the 45 Concept at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the Prophecy Concept was inspired by Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy and embodies Optimistic Futurism, says the carmaker. Optimistic Futurism “focuses on the emotional link between humans and automobiles by balancing nature and technology, emotion and practicality,” reads the release.
“We have brought to life yet another icon that establishes a new standard for the EV segment as well as pushing Hyundai’s design vision to even broader horizons,” said SangYup Lee, Head of Hyundai Global Design Center. “A part of that expansion is what we call Optimistic Futurism, a design concept embodied by ‘Prophecy’. With Optimistic Futurism, our aim is to forge an emotional connection between humans and automobiles.”
The design of the EV concept is quite striking. We can notice, at first, the pixel lamp lights that were first introduced on the Hyundai 45 Concept. The lines of the car are also quite mesmerizing. The One Curve design makes for an elegant and timeless car.
Also, quite noticeable is the transparent rear spoiler. The transparent acrylic material is to showcase the functional components inside and can also be found on the headlamps and in the camera monitoring system.
The Hyundai Prophecy Concept EV is not only unique on the outside, but also in the cabin. Inside the concept, that will be able to use autonomous driving technology, you will not find a steering wheel but a set of two joysticks. In the name of comfort, one joystick can be found in the centre console while the other on the door trim.
