Although you won’t see it mentioned anywhere in the brief press release, the GXE is a Chevrolet Corvette, and a ZR1 by the looks of the bonnet. Thankfully, Genovation’s website is somewhat more forward.
Quite frankly, this is excellent news as the GXE holds a feature that will more than likely have diehard petrolheads re-thinking the electric car altogether. The available power will help too.
The all-electric Corvette-based supercar is developed in the U.S., specifically in Rockville, Maryland. The car uses state-of-the-art batteries, inverters and electric twin-motors, which altogether, produce more than 800 horsepower and over 700 lb.-ft. of torque.
While the specs are nice, what’s really fascinating is that the GXE can be ordered with either a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission!! The reason behind transmissions in this car is a combination between strong acceleration and reaching impressive top speeds.
In fact, the GXE is expected to exceed 220mph (350 km/h), a record for an EV. It can, in normal driving conditions, deliver a range of more than 175 miles or 280 km.
Only 75 of these EV beasts will be built with deliveries beginning in mid-2019. The car will be revealed tomorrow, November 28th.
