The Truckle: Western Spirit Meets Modern Utility
Designed exclusively for Ford truck owners, the limited-edition Truckle is a custom belt buckle built to house a Ford key fob for 2018 and newer models. Retailing at $200, it transforms a practical accessory into a piece of wearable engineering, offering what Andrews calls “the most stylish version of hands-free access and key management a truck owner may ever experience.”

Each Truckle is handcrafted from start to finish, from the first sketch to the final polish. The process involves heating metal to precise temperatures, shaping it with hammers, and engraving microscopic details that often require magnification to perfect. “Every buckle,” Andrews says, “represents a special moment in time.”
This commitment to craftsmanship mirrors the legacy of the Ford F-150, whose 50-year evolution has defined durability and purpose from its assembly lines in Dearborn, Michigan, and Kansas City, Missouri. The Truckle pays tribute to that lineage, proof that good design, whether in a truck or a buckle, comes from decades of refinement.

A Cowboy’s Journey to the Forge
At the helm of this creation is Andy Andrews, a former rodeo cowboy turned master craftsman, and the owner of A Cut Above Buckles. His family-run business has long been known for hand-forged belt buckles that blend artistry and tradition. Now, that craftsmanship is being applied to something new and unmistakably American.

Andrews’ story is as authentic as the western heritage he celebrates. A New Mexico native and lifelong cowboy, he’s been a Ford truck owner since 1969 and spent much of his youth competing in rodeos alongside Native American and Hispanic cowboys who were also skilled silversmiths. Watching them work sparked a fascination that led him to teach himself silversmithing through the 1970s and 1980s.
After hanging up his spurs, Andrews moved to Los Angeles to hone his craft further, collaborating with sample maker Ruben Delgado, who still works with him today. His big break came in 1999 when Ronnie Williams, then president of the International Rodeo Association, offered him a contract to design championship buckles.
“I didn’t even have a company or anything at the time,” Andrews recalls. “But he told me he trusted me and knew I could do it. He sent me a contract, and it said ‘A Cut Above Buckles’ on it, so I thought he’d given the job to somebody else. I called him, and he said, ‘No, I named your company for you. I want you to make them a cut above all the other junk that’s out there.’ That was the first order I ever got.”
A Family Business Forged in Faith and Patience
What began as a one-man operation has become a multi-generational family enterprise. Andrews’ daughters Kellyn and Amanda, son-in-law Kyle, and granddaughter Taylor all play key roles in the business from design to digital operations. “Honestly, I just like the idea of family being involved,” Andrews says. “But there’s a caveat. We all have to be forgiving and tolerant. I think our biggest accomplishment is that we all get along, have each other’s backs, and care deeply about one another.”
That same sense of connection extends to the workshop floor, where Andrews and Delgado still collaborate on every buckle that leaves A Cut Above. Each piece carries not just craftsmanship, but also the story of family, friendship, and faith.
The Official Debut
The limited-run Truckle made its public debut on October 10, 2025, at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. Andrews will be part of the official Ford Experience in the “Truck Zone,” demonstrating his craft live for attendees.
For Andrews, it’s a full-circle moment, one that brings together his cowboy roots, his love of Ford trucks, and his lifelong pursuit of artistry. The Truckle isn’t just a product; it’s a piece of living American forged in steel, sweat, and spirit. This is a true collector piece.
