Toyota drops XLE grade, raising prices
Adds Beyond Zero badge out back
Toyota is making three changes to the Crown for 2024. The automaker is dropping the base model, increasing the price, and adding a new badge.
The XLE trim is getting the boot for 2024. That makes Crown Limited the starting model, and it is loaded with 19-inch alloys, smart key, JBL audio, heated and vented leather seating, and more. It will also be sold exclusively with a 236 hp hybrid system that includes a 2.5L four-cylinder.
For 2024, the Crown Limited starts from $51,990. $1k more than last year and $6,400 more than the now-dead XLE.
Platinum, the top trim of the 2024 Crown, is up $1,700 to $61,690 before destination. It will get white contrast stitching in the all-black interior (Limited gets this too). It will also have traffic jam assist, front cross-traffic alert, and a camera that monitors the driver.
Crown Platinum comes with a Hybrid Max powertrain that pairs the electric motors with a 2.4L turbo four making 340 hp. It has full-time AWD and adaptive suspension.
Now for that badge. Toyota is adding Beyond Zero badges to the Crown, “proclaiming the Crown’s electrified credentials.” Beyond Zero is Toyota’s new plan to make more vehicles electrified, and is the bZ in the bZ4X EV.
The 2024 Toyota Crown is on sale now at Toyota dealers. It will soon be joined by a Crown-badged SUV, which we expect to see revealed next week.
