Rumour has it that Volkswagen could be thinking about introducing a new ID EV vehicle at this upcoming L.A. auto show.
The German giant automaker and we auto media have discussed at length on VW’s plans to flood the car market with electric vehicles in the coming years. Within the next three years alone, the Volkswagen Auto Group plans to reveal and launch nearly 30 models globally. The US and Canada are two markets targeted by VW’s ID. family of EVs.
There are few better locations or car shows than the L.A. Auto Show to introduce a new electric vehicle. As of now, we know that ID. (to be called ID.3 and will not be sold in North America), ID.Crozz (confirmed for North America), ID.Buzz, ID.Vizzion, and ID.Roomzz concepts are near production ready. This latest addition to the family could be the ID.2, or a compact crossover.
If this is the case, it is understandable that we will not see an ID 3 in showrooms but a closely related compact crossover in our market. VW has many plans concerning the US and they include the expansion of their Chattanooga, Tennessee plant. It is said that it will be ready come 2022, which coincides with the planned arrival of the Volkswagen ID Buzz.
