With over 2 million sales worldwide, the Mazda CX-5 has been a hit for Mazda and currently ranks as its best-selling model. For 2019, the CX-5 gets a few upgrades that include a new top-of-the-line Signature trim and the addition of a turbocharged engine.
In other words, Mazda goes beyond just changing a bumper or adding LEDs to the headlights for its 2019 CX-5.
The Signature trim will sit at the top of the CX-5 family, just like it does in the CX-9 lineup. It will feature luxury items like high-end Cocoa Brown Nappa leather and a special Abachi wood trim. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet for the CX-5 signature.
The other significant addition to the 2019 Mazda CX-5 is the turbocharged SKYACTIV 2.5T which will likely be an available option in higher CX-5 trims. Mazda hasn’t confirmed power numbers, but did say it was the same engine found in the CX-9 and Mazda6 which means 227 horsepower (250 hp with premium fuel) and 310 pound-feet of torque.
This engine makes the 2019 CX-5 one of the most powerful compact SUVs in its class. G-Vectoring Control, Mazda’s torque optimization system that reduces vibrations and body movements while increasing stability in order to improve comfort, will also be offered on the 2019 CX-5.
More detailed specifications and pricing info will be unveiled at a later date according to Mazda’s press release.
