The 2020 Hyundai Sonata midsize sedan is about to go on sale in Canada, and the Korean manufacturer has just released pricing information. 2020 Hyundai Sonata First Drive Review: Substantially Modernized

The base Sonata Preferred 2.5L starts at $26,999 before freight and delivery charges. It’s equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, an intelligent key, heated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED headlights and daytime running lights, cloth seat upholstery as well as an infotainment system with eight-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration.

Every 2020 Hyundai Sonata also benefits from adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, blind spot collision avoidance with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, driver distraction detection and high beam assist.

The Sonata Sport 1.6T edition costs $31,299 and swaps the base engine for a turbocharged, 1.6-litre four-cylinder mill that produces 180 horsepower as well as 195 pound-feet of torque from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. Wheel-mounted paddle shifters, 18-inch wheels, a glossy-black mesh grille, sport front and rear bumpers, an eight-way power driver’s seat, BlueLink connectivity, dual-zone climate control, sport seats with leatherette and Dinamica suede upholstery and alloy pedals are also part of the package.

Next up, the $35,999 2020 Hyundai Sonata Luxury 1.6T features ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, driver’s seat position memory, full leather upholstery, a power front passenger seat, a 12-speaker Bose sound system and a 360-degree camera system. The $38,599 Sonata Ultimate 1.6T piles on premium LED headlights, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, navigation, head-up display, a 12.3-inch digital driver instrument panel, wireless phone charging, blind spot monitoring, active park assist, highway driving assist and stitched leather interior accenting.

The 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and PHEV variants will also be fully redesigned, but final details aren’t available yet for the North American market. A performance-minded Sonata N-Line with some 275 horsepower as well as an all-wheel drivetrain are also said to be under consideration.
