And by Canada, we mean not the US of A! While the US will likely get the AMG A 35 sedan, Mercedes Canada has confirmed that the AMG A35 hot-hatch will be coming to our shores in the not too distant future. They said: “not for 2019” so we’ll take it as “coming for the 2020 model year!”
This is excellent news for Merc fans as rivals Audi and BMW have had the run at compact fast cars for a while now. The Audi S3 and BMW M240i were long kept unchecked as the closest Mercedes product in this category is the AMG CLA 45 which is more in line with the RS 3 and M2.
The 2020 AMG A35 HATCHBACK will be powered by a 306-horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque version of Mercedes’ all-new twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine. 4MATIC AWD is included as is the standard 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Mercedes-AMG says it’ll reach 100 km/h in under 5 seconds. We’re eager to find out for ourselves.
As a related side-note, the next-generation 2020 or 2021 CLA will move upmarket in order to compete more directly with the Audi A5 Sportback and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. This move will create a clearer gap between the new A Class and the CLA. Apparently, it’s gorgeous. We believe it will be.
Love that color… I think they should have done an A45 with 375 horsepower. That would have been sick
Can’t wait for my Golf R lease to be up so I can snag on of these.

When they will start the sale of this model? Thanks
what can be the expected price for this
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed just yet for the A 35. The A 250 starts at $35,000 for FWD models and $37,000 for 4Matic AWD models. The Mercedes-AMG A35 would likely be in the $47,000 to $50,000 range.
Why not add a Mercedes AMG A45 S like they did in Europe? It would have been sick and if it did come to Canada then I will go and buy it! But A35 AMG is still great and I would buy it.
