2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Back on Sale. For a Lower Price

Blazing forward once again

  • Sales paused in December of 2023

  • Software fixes come with new price tag

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is on sale once again. Chevy says it has fixed the software issues that led to the stop sale, added some upgrades, and is cutting the price for good measure.

In December, Chevrolet issued a stop sale on the Blazer EV. That’s a notice to dealers that they’re not able to sell or deliver the model until told otherwise. It’s not an unheard of move, though stop sales are generally linked to safety issues.

Chevy stopped selling the Blazer because of software issues. The company said in a statement, “To ensure our customers have a great experience with their vehicle, we are temporarily pausing sales of Blazer EVs. Our team is working quickly to roll out a fix, and owners will be contacted with further information on how to schedule their update. We apologize for the inconvenience.” The move followed complaints of issues with the vehicle’s infotainment system – which also handles climate control – crashing, freezing, and otherwise not working well.

Today, Chevrolet said, “We have made significant software updates that will improve features and functionality to deliver on the high expectations of our customers. We’re confident these improvements will address concerns heard from some early owners and as promised, we’re carrying learnings over to other products in GM’s lineup.”

In addition to making the software work, GM has added multi-colour ambient lighting, revised dashboard graphics, a battery percentage display, and more.

GM did not say when owners would get the update but expect all Blazer EVs on dealer lots to get it before they’re sold.

Lastly, Chevrolet is cutting the price. The 2024 Blazer EV 2LT AWD, the current base model, will be $3,000 lower, starting from $60,730. The RS RWD and AWD are now $67,370 down from $73,370. GM Canada points out that the latter means the RS trims now qualify for up to $7,000 in incentives in Quebec.
