2025 Ford Mustang GTD Gets Performance Pack, Hunts Six-Minute Ring Times

  • GTD gets exposed carbon bodywork

  • Active aero for even quicker laps

Ford has just made the wildest Mustang even more extreme. A new Performance Pack turns the Mustang GTD into something that can crack into the six-minute window on the Nürburgring, with active aero and ultra-light wheels.

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series makes its debut this weekend at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A fitting place for the car, which looks as wild as anything that will be on the track for the all-night race.

Most of the Carbon Series’ performance improvements come from the Performance Package. It adds dive planes and a larger front splitter to help glue the car to the pavement. New active underbody flaps and a drag reduction system for the rear wing are meant to deliver more downforce in the turns and less drag on the straights. The Performance Package is available on all GTD cars.

The bits exclusive to the Carbon Series include Ford exposing more of the GTD’s carbon fibre bodywork. The hood, roof, and rear trunk lid are unpainted, and body color or contrast stripes are available. It also comes with Chroma Flame paintwork.

The Performance Package also includes a lightweight package. This package removes some of the car’s sound deadening and includes 20-inch magnesium alloy wheels.

Le Mans is also the first time we’ve seen inside the Mustang GTD. The car has a new steering wheel with titanium 3D-printed shift paddles, a flat-bottom wheel, and buttons to adjust the suspension and exhaust. It will also have special Recaro seats.

While American orders have already been taken, European orders are open now. Ford says customers in the EU are welcome to apply for a chance to buy the wildest Mustang ever.
