Chrysler Considers High-Performance, Adventure-Oriented Pacifica

The upside to murdered emissions policies is the potential influx of more performance-oriented models, including minivans.

  • Chrysler plans SRT and Overland-style versions of Pacifica amid U.S. emissions policy change.

  • Two new crossovers and a sub-$30,000 compact car are part of Chrysler’s five-year product roadmap.

  • Upgraded Pacifica could attract adventure-seeking buyers with AWD and rugged branding.

Chrysler is evaluating performance and adventure-focused versions of the Windsor-built Pacifica minivan, following relaxed emissions rules in the U.S. and the revival of the Stellantis Street and Racing Technology (SRT) division.

SRT Reborn: Stellantis Revives Performance Unit Under Kuniskis’ Expanded Leadership

The past holds several instances when Chrysler/DaimlerChrysler/FCA/Stellantis toyed with the idea of upgrading its people mover. Examples like the Dodge Caravan ESS concept and a pair of Caravan R/T, the last being a Grand, which I recall seeing at the 2008 NAIAS, all stirred minivan-loving souls, but they were all but forgotten, and quickly.

But Chrysler’s thinking about trying again.

The Pacifica, due for a major refresh in 2026, could be among the first Chrysler models to carry the SRT badge under the brand’s renewed focus on performance. Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell outlined the vision during a recent appearance at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in Pennsylvania.

“You’ll see us with perhaps SRT models coming out under the Chrysler brand,” Feuell said. “Maybe putting SRT on the Pacifica.”

She confirmed Chrysler will display a modified Pacifica at an upcoming Overland Expo, an event series focused on outdoor and off-road adventure vehicles. The concept will appeal to a growing market segment seeking rugged-looking, multi-purpose vehicles.

AutoForecast Solutions Vice President Sam Fiorani said the strategy could help Chrysler expand the Pacifica’s appeal beyond its traditional market. “Pacifica is a well-positioned vehicle,” Fiorani said. “It could pull some more people who were leaning towards a three-row crossover.”

The Pacifica’s existing all-wheel-drive configuration positions it well for adaptation to the adventure-lifestyle trend. SRT models typically include enhancements in performance, handling, and styling. Beyond performance, Feuell also mentioned improvements to Stow ’n Go seating as part of the next Pacifica update, calling it a “re-imagined” approach to interior flexibility.

Feuell confirmed Chrysler is developing multiple new products, including two crossovers and a compact car targeting a base price under $30,000 USD. She said affordability is a key concern amid rising vehicle prices.

The smaller crossover is expected to use the STLA Medium platform and be produced in Brampton, Ontario. The larger model, still unconfirmed, is likely to use the STLA Large platform and may be assembled in Windsor alongside the Pacifica and the newly retooled Dodge Charger.

Chrysler is also evaluating a return of the Chrysler 300 sedan, while another vehicle inspired by the Halcyon concept is in the pipeline. Though timelines were not disclosed, Feuell said the crossover models will likely arrive before 2027.
