It’s hard to find a week when Ford isn’t issuing a recall. We don’t want to pile on, but it’s becoming hard to ignore. Over the past two weeks, several new recalls have been announced, including two involving the Ranger pickup. The Bronco also got caught up in one of them. Here’s a closer look.
Each recall affects approximately 15,000 models in Canada.
Ford continues to lead the industry in recalls in 2026.
The Ford Bronco is also affected by one of the campaigns.
The two separate recall notices target Ford Bronco and Ranger models from the 2024 to 2026 model years. One campaign involves a front seat bolt issue that could compromise occupant safety in the event of a crash. The second involves the sunvisor wiring and the risk of fire. Here are the details on each.
Recall No 1: Ranger 2024–2026: Fire Risk
The first recall, issued on April 14, 2026, covers 14,525 Ford Rangers from model years 2024 to 2026, assembled between December 9, 2022, and December 28, 2025. Transport Canada describes the issue as follows:
“On certain vehicles, the wiring for the sun visors may not have been manufactured and/or installed properly. As a result, the wiring could become damaged and cause a short circuit or electrical arcing (sparks). A short circuit or electrical arcing can create the risk of a fire or injury.”
More specifically, repeated friction between the wiring harness and the structural metal of the A-pillar can wear down the wire insulation and expose the conductor, leading to a short circuit. Ford identified the issue after investigating a fire that occurred in the right A-pillar of a 2024 Ranger in October 2025. Owners may notice early warning signs: flickering or inoperative sunvisor mirror lights, or a malfunctioning overhead console light.
Proposed remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to have the sun visor wiring harness inspected and, if necessary, replaced. The dealer will also update the body control module software to cut power to the sunvisor circuit upon detecting repeated faults, preventing future short circuits. Repairs will be carried out in three phases by model year: 2025 Rangers first (notices by May 31), followed by 2026 models (by June 29), then 2024 models (by July 27). The repair is entirely free of charge.
Recall No 2: Bronco and Ranger 2024–2026: Front Seats
A second recall, issued on April 28, 2026, covers 15,127 Ford Bronco and Ranger vehicles from the same 2024 to 2026 model years. Transport Canada describes it as follows:
“On certain vehicles, the pivot bolts in the height adjuster assembly for the front seats may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the bolt(s) could loosen and detach. If this happens, the seat(s) could move in a crash. A seat that moves in a crash could increase the risk of injury.”
Ford states it has received no reports of injuries related to this defect. Owners who notice squeaking, rattling, or unusual play in their front seats are encouraged to contact their dealership without waiting for the mailed notice.
Proposed remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership for inspection and, if necessary, to replace the height-adjust link(s) and pivot bolts. Ford expects to finalize the technical fix by July 2026, with owner notification letters scheduled for July 13-17. Owners who have already paid for this repair out of pocket may be eligible for reimbursement.
As always, if your vehicle is affected by either of these campaigns, contact your Ford dealership to find out the next steps and stay informed as the situation develops.
