Mercedes-Benz S-Class Wagon Rendering Is For Another Time

The recently introduced Mercedes-Benz S-Class is imagined as a wagon in latest rendering

  • A Mercedes-Benz S-Class wagon won’t happen, but this is what it could look like

Whenever a new model is introduced, it is usually followed by a ton of renderings of possible iterations and the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class won’t be an exception.

There’s something about taking an existing model and transforming it into a different version with a new body style that has very little of any chance of ever happening. The perfect example? This 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class wagon rendering.

There’s no chance Mercedes-Benz builds a wagon version of its new flagship sedan. One, wagons have fallen out of grace in North America and two, Mercedes-Benz has enough cars as is.

Still, the new S-Class rendered here as a wagon shows a very luxurious, sumptuous family hauler that looks decent given how long it is. Wagons tend to look better with a shorter wheelbase, but designer X-Tomi managed to make a theoretical S-Class wagon look good nevertheless.

We like the elegant, built-in roof rails and the slopping C pillar, but the triple rear window looks a bit odd. Still, overall the design is a good representation of a new S-Class transformed into a wagon.

As for the actual 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, it is everything one expects from Mercedes-Benz’ top-of-the-line luxury sedan. Coming in early 2021 in S500 4Matic and S580 4Matic versions, the S-Class will likely offer various AMG versions as well down the road.

It also features a new-generation MBUX system housed in a massive 12.8-inch OLED centre touchscreen. MBUX is now available to every passenger as opposed to only the driver. There’s also a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster complete with a new 3D mode.

The ambient lighting is comprised of around 250 LEDs that can serve to improve the warning issued by various safety systems. Other features include E-Active Body Control as well as rear-axle steering and Level 3 Autonomous capability.
