A Gift From Land Rover : The Next Defender

We just received a note and an image from Land Rover stating that we were not to unwrap before next year…

While there are no further details included in the note as to what it is we are not supposed to unwrap, we can clearly see that this picture is of the new Defender backing out of a trailer. The only line in the email is: “More details to come December 27.”

We’ve seen a number of spy shots of the short “90” and longer “110” versions of the new Defender and we suspect that we’ll get confirmation on what’s what next week. So far, it would seem that the engine will be a turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel with a possible hybrid iteration to appear sometime after that.

Whatever JLR decides to do, we’re convinced the new Defender will be a popular option in our SUV-crazed market.

As JLR will not be showing anything at next month’s NAIAS in Detroit, we’ll have to wait a little longer before we actually get to see it.

The Return of the Land Rover Defender Confirmed!
