All certified carnuts spend far too much company time shopping, well window shopping, on websites like BaT, Craigslist, and Kijiji. Carnuts like we at MI, with the exception of the Boss, tend to stick the $10k and lower listings but occasionally, when we get the latest press release from Barrett-Jackson, we “peruse.” This time, I’ve made a big mistake.
You see, there’s this blue on blue 1981 Toyota SR5 Pickup available for auction right now that triggers all the fizzes. I don’t need to explain why these Toyota pickups are so hot and significant but in a carnut-shell, BTTF’s later model pickup set hearts afire and their legendary durability and coolness are unmatched.
But this blue on blue 1981 Toyota SR5 Pickup is pure mindless temptation. The colours are right, the 4-cylinder looks brilliant, it’s got a 5-speed manual gearbox, custom front bumper, roll bar, rides on what looks to be 33-inch tires and it’s blue, and it’s clean, and has a long bed, and a manual transmission… !! Gah!
Next month, between January 11th and 19th, Barrett-Jackson will host the Scottsdale auction where cars from the late Paul Walker’s collection will also be up for grabs. It’s possible that his assortment of E30 and E36 BMW M3s is as cool as my SR5…
