The Type S is a 355-horsepower luxury sport sedan.
The Type S arrives at the end of this month.
This weekend’s 2021 WeatherTech Sports Car Championship will host the 2021 Acura TLX Type S in public for the first time
The revival of the Type S moniker is heavily anticipated. Officially launched last March, the new 2021 Acura TLX Type S has yet to make its first public showing but that will change this weekend. The Type S will parade as the pace car for this weekend’s 2021 WeatherTech Sports Car Championship.
This year’s race, held in Lexington, Ohio, will be officially known as the Acura Sports Car Challenge Presented by the TLX Type S. The new 2021 Acura TLX Type S will be painted Tiger Eye Pearl gold, a colour that is exclusive to the performance sedan.
According to Motor Authority, the Acuras that will be competing are the ARX-05 prototype racers which are entered in the DPi class as well as NSX GT3 Evos in the GTD class.
As a reminder, the 2021 Acura TLX Type S is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 that produces 355 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque, the most powerful car to ever wear the Type S badge.
Pricing will be announced shortly. Acura has already hinted that the starting price in the US will start in the low $50k range.
