The Batmobile Documentary Is The Best Way To Spend The Next Hour

The Batmobile is nearly as famous as the Dark Knight himself and deserves this documentary.

Batman is arguably one of the greatest super-heroes to have ever graced the pages of a comic book, and both the television and the silver screen. The fact that he is but a man, albeit a playboy billionaire, without super-powers, makes him relatable. His toys, his gizmos, and tools to fight crime often take center stage when The Bat answers the Bat-Signal. One such toy is the Batmobile, and it certainly has had its fair share of action and iterations over the decades. This documentary covers 50 years of Batmobile evolution.

The documentary covers five different Batmobiles starting with the most iconic: The Ford Futura Concept built by the legendary George Barris. While the original Batmobile might be the most iconic, we’ve got a soft spot for the 1989 Batman, starring Michael Keaton, Batmobile. To us, it seemed like a proper 20th-century evolution of the first of its kind…

Anyhow, over the hour-long video, you’ll see the Val Kilmer era with Batman Forever, the George Clooney’s Batman and Robin, and The Dark Knight Trilogy Batmobile, which starred Christian Bale.

Two things, though: The documentary was shot in 2012 so the latest Batmobiles are not featured. And, it’s not quite the HD we’re used to in 2020…
