Bentley has initiated the final development phase for its Batur Convertible, marking the end of an era for the company’s iconic W12 engine. Limited to just 16 units, the Batur Convertible represents the most powerful W12-engined Bentley ever produced.
Created by Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke division, the Batur Convertible is the third model in the Coachbuilt series, following the Bacalar barchetta and Batur coupe. The vehicle features a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine, producing 750 PS, making it the most potent iteration of this powerplant.
The development program spans 58 weeks and includes over 120 individual tests. These evaluations cover durability, environmental compatibility, and dynamic performance. The testing process began with a 3,000-kilometre road trip across Europe, traversing Germany, Italy, France, and Spain, to assess real-world performance.

Paul Williams, Chief Technical Officer for Mulliner, stated, “This stage is critical for identifying potential issues, validating system integration, and ensuring the vehicle meets regulatory standards and customer expectations as part of the engineering development test program.”
The Batur Convertible’s design builds upon the innovative DNA introduced by its coupe counterpart, which will influence future Bentley models. The convertible roof can be deployed or stowed in 19 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h, featuring enhanced insulation and acoustic treatments for optimal comfort.
Customers will have extensive customization options, with Mulliner’s in-house design team offering a specially created visualizer tool. This allows for personalization of every aspect of the car’s exterior and interior.
Two development cars showcase the range of customization possibilities. The Batur Convertible Car Zero features a bespoke Vermillion Gloss over Vermillion Satin Duo tone exterior, with carbon fibre components and a uniquely designed grille. The Engineering Car sports Midnight Emerald paintwork, a high gloss carbon fibre body kit, and a tri-tone wheel design.
As one of the last W12-powered Bentleys, following the engine’s retirement announced earlier this year, the Batur Convertible represents the culmination of Bentley’s legacy in luxury, power, and bespoke craftsmanship.
