Best-Selling Automotive Brands in Canada in 2018

With 297,902 vehicles sold last year, Ford tops the list of the best-selling automotive brands in Canada for 2018.

General Motors finished second with 288,310 sales last year while FCA came in third with 224,889 vehicles sold.

That said, all three automakers saw their sales fall last year with Ford experiencing a 3.4% drop in sales. GM saw its sales decrease by 4.8% while FCA recorded one of the sharpest drops of any automaker last year with a 15.8% decrease in sales.

It was a terrible year for Maserati which led the way in lost sales with a decrease of 38.7%. Unlike in the US where Genesis saw its sales tumble, the Canadian arm had a good year in 2018 with a 174.5% increase in sales. Mitsubishi also had an encouraging year with an 11.1% increase in sales. Volvo continued to push forward with a 29.8% increase in sales.

Overall it was an off year for automotive sales in Canada with passenger car sales dropping by 9.7%. Light truck sales slightly increased by 0.6%. Overall light vehicle sales were down 2.6%.
