BMW is taking the kidney grille to a whole new level with the BMW Concept 4 unveiled in Frankfurt.
The BMW Concept 4 unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show previews the next generation of BMW 4 Series, BMW M3 and BMW M4, but it stands out mainly because of its huge double kidney grille.
The grille on
vehicles has been getting larger and larger with the latest X7 and X5 SUVs showing the largest double kidneys seen yet. The BMW Concept 4 takes the idea of the grille to a whole new level, however. The kidneys are no longer seperate, they are now connected and the overall grille is massive. A sharp contrast to the slim lines of the headlights.
BMW says the grille was inspired by the 3.0 CSi, but to say that it has generated a fair bit of controversy in the hours since is unveiling would be an understatement. Like a lot of things BMW has done in recent years, you either hate it or love it. The rest of the car looks sleek and sporty, and certainly ready for production.
There have been no details as of yet on the engines powering the BMW Concept 4 or when it will be presented in production form. Stay tuned.
