i4 M50i first M-designed BMW EV
BMW Canada is preparing for the arrival of the i4 electric sedan. That means that starting today you can build and configure your ideal version of the EV on BMW’s site for the car, with pre-orders open now and deliveries expected in the first quarter of next year. We also have range and pricing to go with it.
The 2022 BMW i4 will be offered here as the i4 eDrive40 and the i4 M50i. The former is a rear-driver that offers 335 hp from its electric motor and that’s enough to give the car an estimated range of 475 km. That model will start from $54,990.
Up the line, the 2022 i4 M50 gets a pair of motors, one front and one rear, which gives it 536 hp and a total estimated range of 385 km. BMW calls this one the first electric vehicle that was developed by BMW M. The quicker version of the car starts from $72,990.
Despite the differences in range, both versions of the car share an 83.9 kWh battery pack. 150 kW fast charging is expected to add 100 km in as little as seven minutes, with a full charge at home using the BMW wallbox in as little as 9.5 hours.
BMW says that the cars will qualify for provincial EV incentives in BC, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and the Yukon And Northwest Territories. The MSRP of the cars is too high to qualify for federal incentives.
