BrightDrop Zevo 600 Electric Delivery Vans Face Extended 18-Month Delivery Times in Canada and U.S.

Customers ordering BrightDrop’s Zevo 600 electric delivery vans are encountering an extended 18-month delivery timeline in Canada and the U.S.

  • BrightDrop’s Zevo 600 electric delivery vans now present an 18-month delivery timeline for customers in Canada and the U.S.

  • This shortly follows the deployment of 50 Zevo 600 vans in Toronto, Montreal, and Surrey to FedEx Express Canada.

  • Manufactured in Canada, these electric delivery vans from GM’s CAMI Assembly plant underscore the growing demand for environmentally conscious commercial vehicles.

BrightDrop’s recent entry into the Canadian market with the Zevo 600 electric delivery vans is accompanied by an unwelcomed challenge: customers in both Canada and the U.S. are now facing an extended 18-month delivery timeline if they place an order for a Zevo 600 today.

In a notable step towards sustainable last-mile delivery, FedEx Express Canada has received a fleet of 50 BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric delivery vans, marking a significant move in reducing carbon emissions in urban delivery operations. These electric vans have been deployed in major Canadian cities, including Toronto, Montreal, and Surrey, as part of a collaborative effort between FedEx Express Canada and BrightDrop, GM’s commercial electric vehicle (EV) business.

CAMI Assembly Plant

Manufactured within Canada at GM’s CAMI Assembly plant in Ontario, the BrightDrop Zevo 600 vehicles represent an environmentally conscious approach to address the transportation challenges of the modern world. These vans are contributing to FedEx’s commitment to integrating 2,500 electric vehicles across various locations, a goal that aligns with their sustainability objectives.

However, amidst this progress, new customers seeking to order BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric delivery vans are facing an not-so-unexpected challenge. A BrightDrop representative told MotorIllustrated.com that orders placed now are encountering an extended 18-month delivery timeline in both Canada and the U.S. This prolonged wait period highlights a potential hurdle in the rapid adoption of electric commercial vehicles.

While FedEx Express Canada’s partnership with BrightDrop signifies a commendable step towards sustainable mobility, the extended delivery timeline for new orders raises concerns about the readiness of these EVs to meet immediate business demands. The 18-month wait period underscores the growing demand for electric commercial vehicles while highlighting the challenges in scaling up production to match market needs.
