The 2024 Hyundai Elantra has been updated with new styling and technological additions.

  • New features include redesigned exterior styling

  • Digital Key technology makes its debut in the Elantra 2024 range

  • New Elantra to be launched in fall 2023

The new 2024 Hyundai Elantra was introduced today with a series of improvements in design, interior amenities, and technology. Going on sale this fall, the 2024 Elantra features distinct styling cues that we saw on the 2024 Avante, which was introduced to the Korean market earlier this year. Let’s delve into what Hyundai is offering with the 2024 Elantra.

What’s new about the 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

In the classic Hyundai fashion, the 2024 Elantra has a unique visual signature that ensures it stands out on the road. This version is quirkier than its predecessor, showcasing a slimmer grille and a broader stance. The LED daytime running lights are interconnected by a more subdued metallic bar, while the Hyundai emblem is crafted from flat steel. Multiple wheel options will be available, ranging from 15 to 18 inches, along with fresh color choices. From the rear, one can observe a coupe-like profile beginning from the C-pillar, reminiscent of the redesigned Ford Mustang.

Internally, the 2024 Elantra incorporates the standard slew of enhancements you’d expect with a new iteration. This encompasses additional USB-C outlets both at the back and front, a revamped 4.2-inch information display, an array of new material and color choices, and leatherette seating for the luxury and N-Line versions. The wireless charging pad has been redesigned as well.

The 2024 Elantra isn’t short on tech advancements either, most notably the Digital Key feature we’ve seen in recent Hyundai models. This allows the driver to use their smartphone as a car key, eliminating the need for a traditional key fob. Sharing access to the Elantra using this feature is also possible.

The premium Bose audio system, complete with eight speakers, will be available on the high-end trims, complemented by a new 10.25-inch infotainment system as the standard on most models. Additionally, the Elantra will come with Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car tech.

The sportier 2024 Hyundai Elantra N also gets a makeover. It boasts a pronounced black double grille, a dual exhaust system, 19-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, red side sills, and an overhauled steering wheel and infotainment system. A suite of tech tweaks ensures an engaging drive, including advanced ECS software and hardware, a new steering gearbox yoke for added precision, an optimized chassis, and refinements to the rear suspension, all honing the focus on steering and agility.

What engines are offered on the 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

The 2024 Elantra will offer a wide array of engines. The base engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder, anticipated to yield 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a hybrid variant that provides a combined output of 139 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

For those wanting more power, the N-Line trim will house a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, outputting 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 2024 Hyundai Elantra N will continue to sport its 2.0-liter turbo, cranking out 276 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque, enabling a swift 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, especially with the launch control feature.

When will it arrive on the market?

Hyundai has slated the 2024 Elantra for a fall 2023 release.

How much will it cost?

Although the official pricing remains under wraps, we don’t anticipate significant deviations from the 2023 model. Thus, the base price might hover around $21,000, with the N-Line trim starting at about $30,000 and the performance-oriented Elantra N coming in at approximately $40,000.

What’s our take on the 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

While the design might be divisive, Hyundai’s approach of crafting polarizing vehicles has historically paid dividends. At its core, the Elantra’s substance is what has always set it apart, and the 2024 modifications only reinforce its position as one of the top compact sedans. Unique features like the Digital Key provide a competitive edge, and the addition of USB-C ports and other technological enhancements ensure it remains contemporary.

While an upgrade to the base engine would’ve been welcomed, the preliminary specs don’t suggest that the 2024 Elantra will receive any power boost. This could be problematic, especially considering competitors like the 2024 Mazda3, which has a standard engine producing 191 hp. Nevertheless, the Elantra hybrid remains unparalleled in its segment, and both the N-Line and N models continue to provide significant value for their price.

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra might not be revolutionary, but Hyundai has executed the necessary updates to maintain this crucial sedan’s market prominence.
