2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition
Production of some of the most popular models in the Stellantis lineup could be in jeopardy, along with some of its key new model launches. That’s the result of reported pricing disputes with some key suppliers.
Automotive News reports that Stellantis has been having pricing disputes with German fastener maker Kamax, as well as gear manufacturer MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions. The disputes have already breifly halted production of the Jeep Wrangler, according to the report.
According to the report, MacLean-Fogg decided in March to cut off shipments of gears to Stellantis until the two sides worked out a new deal. The supplier is said to want a 26 percent price increase. Kamax stopped shipping fasteners in late February, also a result of looking for a price increase. That stoppage went to court in Michigan, with a judge ordering shipments to resume during the dispute.
AN reports Stellantis called Kamax “one of many suppliers” threatening to stop shipping parts if not given a price increase. That threatens the Wrangler, while the MacLean-Fogg dispute threatens the Grand Cherokee as well as the 2025 Ram 1500 launch. If the dispute progresses to other suppliers, it could cause massive disruptions for the automaker.
