Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona Remain in Plans with NACS Ports for 2027

Weak sales, tariff exposure and changing consumer demand have pushed Stellantis to recalibrate plans for Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona EVs.

  • Jeep Wagoneer S and Charger Daytona will skip 2026 and are expected to return for 2027.

  • Dodge is matching Charger Daytona EV production to demand while growing gasoline output.

  • Both EVs are set to gain NACS charging ports for the 2027 model year.

Stellantis is revising its rollout pace for two EVs in North America after demand weakened well within their first full year on sale. The Jeep Wagoneer S will not be offered for the 2026 model year, while production of the Dodge Charger Daytona EV has been adjusted to align with retail demand, though the 2026 MY version is not posted on the brand’s Canadian and U.S. websites.

The two products arrived in 2025 as important launches for the automaker’s regional electrification plan. They also introduced the STLA Large platform, which was engineered to support both battery-electric and internal-combustion applications.

The Wagoneer S is expected to return as a 2027 model. Jeep is pacing production to support future updates in battery performance, software and vehicle capability. The vehicle is built in Toluca, Mexico, leaving it subject to U.S. import tariffs.

Dodge has taken a different route with the Charger lineup. Stellantis has reduced production of the Windsor, Ontario-built Charger Daytona EV and has increased output of gasoline-powered versions. The company had already removed the electric Charger’s base trim following tariff-related pressure.

Sales data show the challenge. In the first quarter, U.S. sales reached 175 units for the Wagoneer S and 240 for the Charger Daytona. In Canada, only 29 Jeeps were delivered, while Charger sales, all versions, topped out at 214. Wagoneer S sales totalled 10,426 from January through September of last year, then fell to 613 over the following six months. Charger Daytona volume averaged 2,358 units per quarter through September before dropping to 346 in the fourth quarter. Canadians bought only 690 Wagoneer S and 689 Charger Daytona models in 2025.

Price remains a major obstacle in the current EV market. The Wagoneer S Launch Edition, a 2024 model that reached dealerships in January 2025, carried a price of US$71,995 including shipping, and CDN$92,000. For 2025, the lineup started at US$66,995 and CDN$77,790 (after rebates).

Retailers and executives point to timing as a major factor. These vehicles entered the market as EV demand cooled, and after EV purchase tax credits were eliminated or postponed.

Despite the slowdown, Stellantis is not walking away from either model. Dodge says the gasoline-powered Sixpack Charger was always expected to carry the bulk of volume, while the EV remains part of the performance strategy.

For 2027, both the Charger Daytona and Wagoneer S are scheduled to receive North American Charging Standard ports, giving them direct compatibility with Tesla Supercharger sites without an adapter. Jeep also still has the Recon EV on the way, priced from CDN$87,790.
