2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE
The big news of the day was the teaser image Mercedes-Benz unveiled showing the next-generation 2020 GLE in concept form. The wraps will come off the next GLE in the next few months, probably at the Paris Motor Show.
Land Rover Discovery Sport Refresh
Land Rover is planning to refresh the Discovery Sport. The first spy shots were captured recently in Spain. No info yet on any engine changes from Land Rover directly, but the people at Autocar are reporting significant engine improvements. The overall design should take plenty of cues from the Range Rover Velar.
Don Panoz has Passed Away
Don Panoz passed away at the age of 83 years old. After building a pharmaceutical empire, Panoz turned to his true passion: Motorsports. He invested in a variety of racing and automotive ventures over his career, owning such well-known assets as Sebring Raceway and Road Atlanta. He and his son also built a handful of cars including the Panoz Esperante.
BMW to drop Diesel, focus on PHEV and EV
BMW is going all-in on plug-in hybrid technology and plans to retire diesel-powered models in the United States next year. BMW is set to release 25 electrified vehicles over the next 7 years. One of those models will be the 2021 BMW X5 xDrive45e PHEV which could offer up to 40 miles of range, or 64 kilometers.
Acura NSX Recall
Two recalls were issued for the current-generation Acura NSX. The first concerns a faulty brake light while the other recall is concerning a problematic crossover pipe connects the NSX’ two fuel tanks and that could leak over time. There are almost 800 units affected by the first recall, and 967 affected by the second. Acura will be reaching out to owners by phone.
