Lexus Updates UX 250h AWD With Stiffer Shell, New Infotainment, Improved Assistance

Lexus UX gets serious improvements for 2023

  • New infotainment the highlight of 2023 UX updates

  • Stiffer shell, suspension improvements, and F Sport variable suspension part of upgrades

Lexus is giving its smallest model some big updates for 2023. The UX 250h gets upgrades to its structure, the all-new Lexus infotainment system, and a new available variable suspension system.

By adding 20 new spot weld points on the body, Lexus says the 2023 UX 250h will offer new levels of stability and ride quality. To go along with the stiffer shell, Lexus has retuned the power steering as well as the shocks. Lexus says it will mean better steering response and “a more refined driving performance.” New 18-inch run-flat tires are said to improve noise and vibration in the cabin.

The same infotainment system found in the all-new 2022 NX has been added to the Lexus UX 250h. It has a larger touchscreen display (with standard 8.0 and optional 12.3-inch screens) that uses natural speech activation along with touch function instead of the old touchpad interface. The system is more responsive and higher-resplution and allows cloud-based point-of-interest updates and directions.

F Sport Series 1 and F Sport Series 2 packages are new for 2023. The two packages add F Sport wheels and grille, along with dark trim. Series 1 gets performance dampers and variable suspension, which Lexus says improves handling and reduces body roll. F Sport Series 2 models of the UX 250h have a head-up display, the larger screen, adaptive front lights, and other luxury features in addition to the Series 1 performance updates.

Lexus has also updated the Lexus Safety System for the 2023 UX. A new camera and upgraded radar give the system better cyclist and pedestrian detection, especially in low light and at intersections. Lane recognition has been improved using new AI and Lexus says it will also have a more natural operation. Lastly, radar cruise gets a curve speed control function that can slow down for sharper bends.

The 2023 UX 250h AWD will remain hybrid-only, with a 181 hp hybrid system and all-wheel drive.

Expect pricing for the 2023 Lexus UX to arrive shortly before the model goes on sale. Lexus says that will happen in late summer.
