Mercedes-Maybach Teams Up with “The Devil Wears Prada 2”

Miranda Priestly is set to return to the big screen with the release of the sequel to the hit film The Devil Wears Prada 2 (20th Century Studios), arriving in theatres across Canada starting May 1. Just like in the first film, her official car is a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but this time, it’s no ordinary S-Class—it’s a Maybach S680.

  • Mercedes-Maybach has partnered with the franchise for the sequel
  • It serves as the official car of the main character Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep
  • The film hits theatres on May 1

Naturally, this is a standout advertising campaign—good old-fashioned marketing. In the original film, Miranda is driven around in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, with multiple scenes featuring the car. It was great exposure for Mercedes-Benz, although at the time, the German automaker was not an “official” partner of the franchise.

Where Do We Sign?

With the sequel, there was no question the automaker would seize the opportunity to step up its visibility and once again put its flagship front and centre. This is especially relevant as the S-Class/Maybach models are partially redesigned for 2027.

An interesting detail about the film: the car seen on screen is not the redesigned 2027 version. The vehicle actually used during filming in New York was the previous version, finished in grey.

Why not simply use a 2027 S-Class? The answer is straightforward—the car had not yet been unveiled at the time of filming in the summer of 2025. With photographers and onlookers constantly present around filming locations, Mercedes-Benz would have had no choice but to reveal the vehicle early in order to control the narrative.

Present at Every Premiere

To reinforce the partnership and maximize exposure, Mercedes-Maybach is present at nearly every red carpet event where national premieres are held. In each case, the brand showcases a vehicle adorned with The Devil Wears Prada 2 accessories. Among them is the film’s iconic symbol—red high-heeled shoes styled like a devil’s pitchfork—displayed on the front fenders.

Inside, special trim pieces appear on both the front and rear centre consoles, along with embroidered headrests. Unsurprisingly, the traditional metallic Maybach champagne flutes are also engraved with the film’s branding.

For now, there are no plans for Maybach to produce a special edition for customers. However, given that each Maybach can be customized to the buyer’s preferences through the Manufaktur program, owners remain free to create their own bespoke interpretation.
