We’ve seen pictures and we’re intrigued.
The new Santa Fe visually goes Land Rover/ Land Cruiser.
We’re still trying to figure out if we like what we’ve so far seen of the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe. The now ultra-boxy midsize SUV is going rugged-urban-chic striking once more, a radical departure from the previous generation vehicle.
Beyond the pictures, little is known about the new Santa Fe. A few hints can be found when sifting through images and videos featuring the SUV online. Two such elements are the “2.5T” and “HTRAC” badges that can be spotted on the copper-coloured model in the initially released series of pictures. This indicates that the turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder will return as will Hyundai’s AWD system.
As we know, the current Santa Fe is offered with the 2.5T, a naturally-aspirated 2.5L engine, and both hybrid and PHEV powertrains as well. In all likelihood, all four alternatives will return, the PHEV is basically guaranteed as one unit with a “plug-in hybrid” badge has been spied recently.
The new Santa Fe will also gain Hyundai’s latest cabin décor with a large combination screen split between the IP and touchscreen display. On the outside, we’ve seen the unique “H” pattern lights and large wheels depending on trim.
More will be revealed on Thursday, August 10 at 5am EST.
