New BMW M8 Gran Coupe To Debut At The 2019 LAAS

BMW’s 8 Series is conquering all hearts and the upcoming BMW M8 Gran Coupe will be the ultimate high-performance do-it-all car.

We’ve yet to not seriously fall for a BMW 8 Series, no matter the generation. The latest one however, is a giant slayer. The M850i Coupé blew our minds and we currently are absolutely smitten by our M850i convertible tester. The M8 has us unreasonably excited but truthfully, it’s the BMW M8 Gran Coupe we are most looking forward.

The reason is simple: We all have families and they’re a little tough to stuff in a 2-door coupé. The Gran Coupe will not only make our lives easier but we think it’s the sexiest of the whole of the 8 Serie lineup.

The M8 Gran Coupe’s specs don’t hurt either. It will share the M8 Coupé and Convertible’s twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 and is good for 600-horsepower and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. An M8 Gran Coupe Competition version is also expected and it won’t be for the faint of heart. It will pack a 617-horsepower version of the same twin-turbocharged V8. With the standard 8-speed automatic transmission and included xDrive AWD system, the basic M8 coupe will reach 60mph (96 km/h) in 3.1 seconds. The Gran Coupe will need a few extra tenths given the extra weight.

If you’re in the market for a niche high-powered German 4-door coupe, the world is at your feet. Mercedes-AMG GT four-door Coupe, Porsche Panamera and Audi RS 7 are all in for your pleasure.

The BMW M8 Gran Coupe concept was revealed in Geneva in 2018 and the production will break cover in November at the 2019 edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
