The all-new Porsche 911 (992), to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show next Wednesday, just made its appearance on the web. It’s Jalopnik who managed to get their hands on the photos, sent by a reader of the site. The images received shows a Porsche Carrera 4S.
Unfortunately, the leak reveals nothing but the images, so we have very little additional information on the new generation of the popular Porsche model. In a video released earlier this week, the German automaker announced that the 911 would feature a new 8-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission and matrix LED headlights.
That being said, last month, a group of automotive journalists were invited by Porsche to drive Porsche 911 992 prototypes in California. These Carrera S test mules were powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine producing 450 hp and 391 pound-feet of torque. As for the base version (non-S), it will have a less powerful version of the same engine with 385 hp.
During the same event, journalists were also able to learn that the new 8-speed automatic PDK automatic transmission is actually the one found in the latest Porsche Panamera with a different configuration. The gearbox will also be able to accept an electric motor.
All the info on the new 911 will be revealed on November 28th. Porsche will livestream the unveiling of its 8th generation 911 straight from the show floor of the Los Angeles Auto Show. Stay tuned!
