Porsche has shared important details on the first all-electric version of its Cayenne SUV. It will make its public debut on November 19 with more than 1,000 horsepower, fast-charging capability, and advanced technology derived from Porsche’s Formula E race program.
The Cayenne Electric incorporates multiple technologies developed for the 99X Electric Formula E racecar. Key systems, including energy recuperation, drive management, and battery software, were transferred directly from the racetrack. The SUV delivers up to 600 kW of recuperation power, on par with its Formula E counterpart.
Porsche has already subjected the Cayenne Electric to public performance testing. In July 2025, a development prototype set a new SUV record at the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb in England, completing the 914-metre course in 31.28 seconds. The vehicle also demonstrated high-altitude capability by ascending Austria’s Großglockner High Alpine Road, where it was tested at elevations exceeding 2,500 metres.
The Cayenne Electric uses an 800-volt architecture and is powered by a function-integrated battery with a gross energy capacity of approximately 113 kWh. The high-performance SUV supports charging speeds of up to 390 kW. When connected to a compatible high-speed charger, the vehicle can recover up to 323 km of range in just 10 minutes. Charging performance is supported by a predictive thermal management system, which helps maintain optimal conditions even in cold environments.
Porsche has also introduced a new 11 kW wireless charging solution. A flat-charging pad installed on the ground allows the vehicle to automatically align and lower for contactless home charging, with all live components protected for outdoor use.
The interior of the Cayenne Electric has been designed with a focus on long-distance comfort and digital integration. At the centre is the new Flow Display, a 14.25-inch OLED touchscreen that spans the dashboard, consolidating navigation, vehicle data, and entertainment functions.
The vehicle also features Porsche’s AI-enabled Voice Pilot assistant, which responds to natural language commands. A new Digital Key system enables keyless access via smartphone or smartwatch.
Comfort upgrades include adjustable rear seating, integrated surface heating in armrests and door panels, and ambient “Mood Modes” that synchronize lighting, temperature, audio, and seating profiles. The interior is customizable with expanded material and colour options.
Development of the Cayenne Electric has included rigorous testing across multiple climates, including frozen lakes in Scandinavia and desert environments in Dubai. Porsche engineers focused on ensuring the new model meets the performance, comfort, and range standards of previous Cayenne generations.
