The 2027 Nissan Kicks Gets a Rugged Rock Creek Trim Level

• The Kicks Rock Creek gets more aggressive tires, unique wheels, a few design tweaks, and an off-road drive mode.

After the Pathfinder and the Rogue, the Nissan Kicks gets a rugged-looking Rock Creek edition for the 2027 model year.

As adventurous trim levels are gaining popularity on SUVs of all shapes and sizes, Nissan has decided to extend its Rock Creek treatment to the smallest model it sells in North America.

As with the two other Rock Creek editions in the Nissan lineup, the changes made to the Kicks are mostly visual, but its off-roading capabilities have also been slightly improved.

Indeed, the Kicks Rock Creek gains an exclusive off-road drive mode that allows a greater degree of wheel spin before activating traction control in order to help keep momentum up on low-grip surfaces, such as gravel, sand, or mud.

The Kicks Rock Creek is also the only one to feature hill descent control, which helps keep the vehicle’s speed constant when going down a steep decline on slippery ground.

The Kicks Rock Creek’s standard tires also feature a more aggressive tread pattern than those installed on other trim levels, helping it bite loose terrain better, likely at the expense of a bit of efficiency on hard pavement.

Of course, the all-wheel drive system is standard, as it is on the SV Premium and SR trims.

Apart from that, the Kicks Rock Creek differs from the mid-level SV trim on which it is based only with design features inside and out.

This means that like all other 2027 Kicks models, the Rock Creek is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT transmission, a combination that generates 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque.

Up front, the main difference between the Rock Creek and other Kicks versions is the upper grille, which features three orange rectangles that recall the air intakes used on other rugged Nissan models such as the Armada and Frontier Pro-4X, along with the other Rock Creek versions, of course.

The same shade of orange can also be found on the Nissan badge and on the Rock Creek logo, which is installed on the front grille.

Another apparent design change is the inclusion of orange daytime running lamps instead of the regular Kicks’ white units, giving it a distinctive look even at night or from afar.

In profile, the Kicks Rock Creek stands out with its tubular metal roof rack that can support up to 165 pounds of cargo, its unique 17-inch alloy wheels, the Rock Creek logo at the bottom of the front doors, orange accents throughout, and matte black lower body mouldings in place of the chromed element found on other models.

At the rear, the main distinctive elements are the gloss black diffuser and orange badging.

Inside, the 2027 Nissan Kicks Rock Creek benefits from an exclusive type of leatherette upholstery which matches that of the Rogue Rock Creek, along with copious amounts of orange contrast stitching.

Since it is based on the SV trim level rather than the top-of-the-line SR, the Kicks Rock Creek misses out on some features, such as the 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and the 10-speaker Bose audio system.

Nevertheless, its equipment list seems fairly complete, with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, and the wireless integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Rock Creek also adds the surround view camera system, rear autonomous emergency braking, and ambient lighting, which are not available on the SV.

The 2027 Nissan Kicks, along with the new Rock Creek trim level, will begin arriving at Canadian dealerships later this summer, with pricing to be announced between then and now.
