It has come to signify the most off-road capable version of a Chevy truck.
The ZR2 trim will be available this fall.
Chevrolet truck fans and owners have watched helplessly as Ford and Ram have successfully launched ultra-high-performance versions of their respective popular full-size trucks. Just now, Chevrolet has released a teaser image and accompanying short video on the addition of a ZR2 version of the Silverado.
There’s nothing else to go on other than, based on the wheels seen spinning in the video, it looks as though the ZR2 package may be offered on both the 1500 and HD versions. The press release does not specify any introduction date however it is stated that this new trim will be added to the Silverado lineup this fall.

This allows us to speculate and say that, typically, the ZR2 package does not include a power boost or upgrade, contrary to the Ford Raptor and Ram TRX. Frankly, GM’s out of engine options unless it drops the Corvette’s tweaked 495-horsepower LT2 V8 to replace the EcoTech 6.2-litre V8 and its 420 horsepower. Other than this detail, we expect the Silverado ZR2 will feature Multimatic shocks along with plenty of other hardcore off-roading bits.
