New Trailhunter package adds factory-installed overlanding equipment on SR5 models.
Standard 14-inch multimedia display debuts with updated Toyota software.
Full specifications and pricing arrive in fall 2026.
Toyota has shared the first details of its updated 2027 Tundra, complete with revised styling, more technology and most notably, a new Trailhunter package. Complete specifications, pricing and market availability will be announced in fall 2026.

The refreshed full-size pickup gets a redesigned more upright and squared-off front fascia. It is complemented by revised grille treatments, integrated rectangular fog lights and a wider visual stance intended to reinforce the truck’s capability-focused character.
A significant addition to the lineup is the new Trailhunter package, offered on the SR5 grade. The package is aimed at buyers seeking enhanced off-road capability without relying on aftermarket modifications. Equipment includes Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, an Old Man Emu suspension system, front recovery hooks, additional underbody protection, bronze-coloured wheels and exclusive Trailhunter badging.

Trailhunter also incorporates several of Toyota’s off-road technologies, including Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and a locking rear differential. The package has been positioned at a more accessible price point than higher-end off-road models while maintaining factory-backed capability. This is quite the opposite to how Toyota positions the package on the 4Runner and Tacoma.
Inside, every 2027 Tundra will feature Toyota’s latest-generation Multimedia system displayed on a standard 14-inch touchscreen. The updated software introduces customizable home-screen widgets, faster responses from the embedded “Hey Toyota” voice assistant and an interface designed to resemble modern smartphone operating systems.

The truck also gains a standard built-in Drive Recorder capable of capturing 20-second video clips using the vehicle’s exterior cameras when manually activated or automatically triggered. Digital Key functionality has also been expanded, allowing compatible smartphones to manage vehicle access through Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet, with support for sharing digital access with up to five additional users. Near-field communication enables key functions to continue even if a device’s battery becomes depleted.
Toyota has also upgraded several functional features, including a brighter grille-mounted LED light bar that improves forward illumination. This is on top of the available RIGID fog lights, which further enhance visibility in poor conditions. Hybrid-equipped i-FORCE MAX models continue to offer a 2.4-kilowatt onboard inverter capable of powering tools and other electrical accessories.

The 2027 Tundra will continue to be available in SR, SR5, TRD Off Road, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone grades. Buyers will be able to choose between the twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine and the available i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain.
