It will measure 4.11 meters, or about 15cm less than the MK7 Golf.
It will be built on a shortened MEB platform.
The ID.2 is planned for 2025 in Europe.
As expected, Volkswagen is growing its ID. family of EVs. At the moment, the ID.3 and ID.4 are flying off the shelf in many global markets. Hints pertaining to the ID.5 and ID.6 have been dropped and we all know and can’t wait for the Buzz. This however is the first time we learn details on the ID.2.
As the number suggests, the ID.2 will slot below the ID.3 size- and price-wise. The ID.2 will initially launch as a crossover, as reported by Edison, for 2025. Versions of the ID.2 will be badged Seat and Skoda for 2026.
The ID.2 will ride on a shortened MEB platform but despite being roughly 15cm shorter than the MK7 Golf, it will be at least as spacious on the inside. The 5-seater will offer between 250 and 400km of range however it’s unclear which wheels and how many will be driven. It is likely that the batteries will be new, inexpensive, and particularly safe lithium iron phosphate units, which, according to new VW data, last “millions of kilometers” with up to 10,000 charging cycles.
According to the report, the Volkswagen ID.2 will be priced at around 20,000 euros.
