Dreams can come true!! With the 250-horsepower (on 93-octane fuel) SKYACTIV-G 2.5 T 4-cylinder, the 2019 Mazda CX-5 will become the most powerful, and fast, crossover in its segment, replacing the now defunct Subaru Forester XT.
According to what looks like internal Mazda documents, the 310-lb-ft turbocharged 4-pot will be offered as an option on the top-line GT trim CX-5. Nowhere in the document is there mention of the word “Mazdaspeed” however a Signature trim will be added above the GT copying the CX-9 trim lineup.
For 2019, the CX-5 will also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto much like the 2019 CX-9, CX-3 and Mazda6. As well, G-Vectoring Control Plus will be standard in all versions.
Like for the CX-9, a number of upgrades have been made inside and out in the name of comfort, refinement and overall ownership enjoyment.
While all of this is nice, we’re salivating at the thought of all the CX-9’s torque in a vehicle that weighs nearly 350 kg less. Should we take bets on how quickly it’ll reach 100km/h? We’re thinking sub-6 seconds, like 5.9.
