2020 Audi e-tron Sportback priced at $93,400

  • e-tron Sportback is the second fully-electric vehicle from Audi.

  • Range is an EPA-estimated 218 mile or 351km.

  • Expected to arrive in showrooms this summer.

The “original” Audi e-tron SUV launched nearly two years ago and has been met with reasonable success. Its typical Audi SUC styling distinguished it but did not make it unique among the still rarified EV options. The new 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback, with its station-wagon-esque styling and roofline may sway more potential EV buyers into Audi showrooms come this summer when it arrives, priced at $93,400 to start.

The Audi e-tron Sportback is, in no uncertain terms, the e-tron SUV’s non-identical twin. Both share the same powertrain configuration, battery size, charging capabilities and more. Specifically, the Sportback rides on a standard air suspensions with on-demand quattro AWD capability. Each electric motor, one on each axle, is liquid-cooled for consistent performance. On that subject, the e-tron can tap into an available 355-horsepower (up to 402 in Boost Mode) and 414 lb.-ft. of torque (490 in Boost Mode) enabling the “car” to reach 60mph in only 5.5 seconds.

The 95kWh battery unit delivers up to 218 miles or 351km of range, besting the e-tron SUV’s 204 miles, or 328km. Both are capable of 150 kW rapid charging and, impressively and when properly equipped, tow up to 4,000lbs.

The mid-range Technik is priced at $101,400 and features different wheels, acoustic windows, rear window sunshades, cooled front seats, front and rear heated seats, soft close doors, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Audi will offer a special Launch Edition, called the Edition One, and it will be priced at $111,500. Its features are cosmetic as they will all be Plasma blue metallic with Dynamic orange brake calipers, Alu-optic trim and 21-inch wheels. The interior too will get special touches such as Monaco Gray Valcona leather seats, a two-tone stitched dash, and a black headliner.
