You all probably remember that Ford announced earlier this year that they were going to pull the plug on all cars, save for the Mustang in Canada. The US will get one other car which will the Focus Active, or a jacked plastic-clad station wagon for CUV lovers.
Could it be that Ford’s changing their minds, or at least revisiting their decision somewhat? Difficult to tell but this 2020 Focus ST sported Michigan plates so the most obvious conclusion is that Ford was in the state for high-altitude testing. It was also attached to a trailer.
Physically, the front and rear bumpers are different from the 2019. The most visual enhancement, if you can call it that, is the rear diffuser which now has more fins which separates the ST’s signature centrally-located tailpipes into two separate units. We’ve got no information on what lies beneath the bonnet but the most probable mill would be a slightly de-tuned 2.3-litre EcoBoost shared with the Mustang and Focus RS.
We doubt Ford will go back on its decision completely but seeing this car stateside could indicate modifications in the plan.
