Hummer EV gets suitably Hummer-looking wheels
No central tire inflation?
We’re still not sure what the new GMC Hummer EV is going to look like, though we’re assuming it’ll be a whole lot like a modernized version of the old ones (don’t expect a lot of curves). NOw, though, we might just know what its wheels are going to look like.
Thanks to a new photo of the vehicle’s electric architecture obtained by GM Authority, we can see the two electric motors, but, more importantly, we can see one of the Hummer’s chunky wheels.
It’s a surprisingly intricate design, with a large number of thin (for a Hummer) spokes. Two rings of cross-spokes give the wheel extra strength, and there’s a faux beadlock rim to make it look even more imposing.
The wheel is an eight-bolt design, not surprising given the 1,000 hp (and accompanying torque) the Hummer electric is set to deliver. The black Hummer logo text is shown in black in the center of the wheel.
Do the rims look suitably Hummery? We’d say yes, though we’re not sure if they’re a stock wheel or an optional extra. We’ll also note that they don’t appear to have a central tire inflation system like the OG Hummer, but I’m not sure anyone expected that. Then again, GM may have come up with a newer design to let you air up or down on the trail.
