Kia is bringing an EV9 GT to market, the company has confirmed. It’ll get your family from 0-100 km/h in four seconds thanks to “enormous power output,” which sounds like the electric equivalent of Dodge’s Durango SRT.
The automaker shared the news during its investor day. The announcement was earlier this month, but the presentation wasn’t posted until just now, when CarScoops spotted it and we got to see the slideshow that accompanied it.
Kia President and CEO Ho-sung Song said that the Kia EV9 GT will be revealed next January. It will have dual electric motors for AWD and that “enormous power.” We’re not sure how much that will be, exactly, but the words he uses make it sound like the EV9 GT will beat the 567 hp and 545 lb-ft the EV6 GT offers.
It’ll take a lot of power to get the big three-row EV9 from 0-100 km/hy in four seconds. That’s almost as quick as the much smaller EV6 GT, and more than a second up on the quickest current EV9 model.
The CEO announced that Kia will also upgrade the suspension and braking system. Expect similar upgrades to those under the EV6 GT to make handling and stopping up to the extra power. It will almost certainly look slightly more aggressive than a GT-Line trim EV9 and get stickier tires.
Other Kia model updates for this year were also confirmed. The EV6, K8, and Sportage are all getting product enhancements. The EV3 and K4 models will launch, as will the EV6 GT. Kia will add four new EV models next year, one in 2026 and one in 2027.
