The T-Roc, sadly not available in North America, slots itself below the Tiguan in Volkswagen’s increasingly growing line of SUV offerings in other markets. Now that we’ve seen the Volkswagen T-Roc R, we really regret not getting the line over here.
In a nutshell, the T-Roc R will be every bit a VW Golf R in all but name and ride height. Here are three things you need to know about the vehicle:
1) The T-Roc R will see its engine bay gain the same turbocharged direct-injection 296-horsepower (yes, more powerful than ours…) that also produces 295 lb.-ft. of torque. To it will be attached a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and the Haldex all-wheel drive system.
2) The gain in power and traction will be accompanied by all the good go-fast bits. Notably, it gets the same suspension components that lower the T-Roc R by 20 millimeters (adaptive dampers will be optional), the bigger brakes and larger wheels. Among other visual improvements, look for massive intakes in the front bumper, a contrasting rear diffuser framed by quad exhaust tips and “R” logos.
3) The Volkswagen T-Roc R will not be all about the show. With its newfound muscle, it will reach 100 km/h in only 4.9 seconds or only 0.3 seconds more than the actual Golf R.
The Volkswagen T-Roc R, or T-Rock-eR if you prefer, will more than likely make its world-debut at this upcoming Geneva Motor Show. We’ll be there so we’ll snap a few pictures for you.
