$4,000 Price Drop for the 2026 Subaru Solterra

With government incentives gradually being phased out, automakers are adjusting the prices of their electric vehicles to better appeal to consumers. The latest example comes from Subaru: after a one-year hiatus, the Subaru Solterra 2026 returns with a $4,000 price cut.

  • The base price, including freight and PDI, now stands at $55,352.
  • The lineup consists of three trim levels.
  • Power output climbs significantly to 338 horsepower.

After a year off the market, the Subaru Solterra makes a comeback for 2026 with a revised and improved version. Following the major updates brought to its technical twin, the Toyota bZ4X, now simply called the bZ, the Solterra benefits from refreshed styling, more onboard technology, and above all, a powertrain that delivers greater range and performance.

Prices Going Down

While the changes are numerous and quite substantial, the surprise is that prices are actually going down instead of up. The 2026 Solterra costs $4,000 less than the last model sold in Canada in 2024. As such, the base price for the Subaru Solterra now sits at $55,352, freight and PDI included.

The new lineup features three trims:

  • Base ($55,352) – Equipped with a new 77-kWh battery and producing 338 hp.
  • Luxe ($58,352) – Likely the most popular version, adding 20-inch wheels, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a power liftgate for $3,000 more.
  • Technology ($61,352) – The top trim, $6,000 above the base, adds a panoramic sunroof, glossy black and chrome accents, and leather upholstery

Major and Meaningful Improvements

The updates to the 2026 Subaru Solterra are significant. The exterior design adopts cleaner, more refined lines, while the cabin has been reworked with a redesigned center console that’s more practical and a new 14-inch multimedia screen.

On the technical side, all Canadian versions are powered by dual electric motors, giving the Solterra standard all-wheel drive. Combined output jumps from 215 to 338 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful Subarus ever built.

In collaboration with Toyota, Subaru has also upgraded the charging system for greater efficiency. The new model adopts the NACS (North American Charging Standard) port and can charge at up to 150 kW on a DC fast charger. Most notably, the new 77-kWh battery enables a much more competitive range of up to 446 kilometers, representing a 25% increase compared to the 2024 model.
