717 Hp 2025 BMW M5 Touring in Canada This Fall From $138k

  • The Uberwagen finally arrives

  • Audi RS 6 Avant gets tough competition

It’s the first-ever BMW M5 Wagon for sale in Canada. The 717 hp M Touring will be ultra-fast and have loads of cargo space. With a price tag that’s somehow not as heavy as its curb weight.

For years, we’ve longed for the BMW M5 Touring, but had to settle for the sedan or an X5 M. Now, we’re finally getting it. The 2025 BMW M5 Touring hits dealers in Canada in Q4 of 2024.

If you’re familiar with the sedan, it’s like that but with more cargo space. If you’re not, we’ll summarize.

The 2025 M5 Touring makes 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque through a combination of a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and a beefy electric motor. It has standard AWD and an eight-speed automatic, and can hit 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and 200 in 11.1. It’ll even do 40 km on electric power alone, though a whole lot less quickly.

That’s surprisingly quick for a car that tips the scales at 2,508 kg. 500 kg more than the last-gen car, heavier than an F-150 SuperCrew 4×4, heavier than a Chevy Tahoe… you get the point.

The price rings in at $138,000, at least before you start picking options like the carbon ceramic brakes. That’s just about the same as the Audi RS 6 Avant, this car’s only real competitor. The Audi only makes 621 hp and it isn’t a hybrid, though it does weigh about 250 kg less.

Other M5 Touring features include wider fenders front and rear and a new roof spoiler. It has 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, M steering, suspension, and brakes, and an Active M rear differential. The M5 T will also get some seriously bright and heavily bolstered seats.

Starting this winter, expect to see the M5 Touring and its 1,630L of cargo space at the swanky private school or celebrity-branded sports camp near you.
