The BMW i4 is one of our favorite current electric vehicles. Subtly designed, with one or two possible exceptions, the i4 combines the BMW driving experience with range, power, and efficiency. Truth be told, there was only one minor problem with it.
BMW Group Canada has announced the launch of a new model in their electric vehicle lineup, the 2024 BMW i4 xDrive40. This new addition expands the i4 range, introducing a second xDrive all-wheel drive variant. Up until now, the “lesser” eDrive40 was only available with a single motor.
Equipped with a robust powertrain, the dual-motor BMW i4 xDrive40 will produce 396 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. This will allow the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a swift 5.1 seconds.
In terms of range, the new i4 xDrive40 boasts an impressive preliminary estimated EPA range of up to 494 kilometers, marking it as a competitive choice for long-distance EV driving.
BMW has confirmed that the Canadian market will start receiving the BMW i4 xDrive40 beginning from July production. This new model carries a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $69,900 CAD.
This announcement by BMW Group Canada reemphasizes the automaker’s commitment to expanding its EV offerings and providing consumers with more choices in the emerging electric vehicle market.
