CALLUM Re-engineers the Jaguar C-X75 Concept to make it Road Legal

One of the stunt cars from the James Bond Spectre movie, a Jaguar C-X75 concept, has been modified for road use by its original designer.

  • This concept was first shown to the public in 2010 and then made an appearance in the James Bond movie Spectre.

  • This car is one of the stunt cars used for the film.

  • CALLUM made modifications that allow the car to be registered for road use.

Fourteen years after having made its first public appearance, the Jaguar C-X75 concept has been modified for road use by CALLUM.

This modern supercar was initially expected to enter production, but the automaker later changed its mind and only a handful of units have ever been produced.

Five of these vehicles were later used in the 2015 James Bond Movie Spectre, were they took part in stunts and high-speed pursuits through the streets of the Vatican City.

The car that has been modified for road use is one of those five stunt cars, of which one was destroyed during filming.

Founded by Ian Callum, the former Jaguar designer who originally penned the C-X75, CALLUM is a design and engineering firm that specializes in one-off and limited-production vehicles.

Since the car in question had only been intended to be used on-screen, CALLUM had to make some significant changes to the prototype in order for it to be granted an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) certificate that allows it to be driven on public roads in the United Kingdom.

These changes include replacing the original foam side mirrors with functional elements that include a turn signal repeater, automotive grade E-marked glass, different switchgear around the cabin, and minor adjustments to the dampers and ride height to make the car useable without spoiling its acclaimed handling characteristics.

The engineers also sought to improve the build quality of the C-X75 concept by removing quick-release latches on various body panels that were required for filming purposes and refinishing the carbon-fibre bodywork and paint, allowing for tighter tolerances and greater visual appeal.

The supercharged 5.0L V8 powertrain was also altered for certification, most notably with the addition of catalytic converters and a quieter exhaust system, along with the tuning and calibration changes required to make the engine run smoothly with these new appendages.

The Jaguar C-X75 concept by CALLUM will make its public debut at the Bicester Scramble, a large classic and modern car show to be held on April 21st at a former airbase in Oxfordshire.
